 A Note on this Painting

This great singer of the Khayals from the Kirana Gharana with her deep reverberating voice and impacful presence had always held me enthralled.

The effort to transfer her singing style onto paper, with her eyes closed and her hand to her ear in concentration was realised with this charcoal sketch on recycled paper.
The folds of her silk saree and the expression on her face are signature to her!
